Education Projects In Sierra Leone
Sierra Leone’s education system suffered major setbacks during the 1991-2001 war. Schools were damaged or destroyed. Textbooks were lost. Libraries were looted. Teacher training lapsed. Thousands of children and youth spent years out of school, fighting in or fleeing war. Rural communities are struggling to rebuild schools and libraries, procure textbooks, and hire qualified teachers. With most families living in poverty, paying school fees is a major strain.

To help Sierra Leone is achieve its goal of “quality education for all children”, FWA collaborates with Sierra Leone and U.S.-based organizations to:
• Build schools in rural communities
• Supply textbooks to schools, universities and libraries
• Improve teacher training programs.
