Leh Wi Tok
Since 2005, The Foundation for West Africa has supported the extraordinary efforts of communities that are using radio to build peace and strengthen democracy in post-war Sierra Leone and Liberia. While our web site provides snapshots of their efforts, the FWA board Board of Directors recognizes the value of these radio pioneers sharing their stories, in their own words, through film and sound.
That is why FWA is the major underwriter of Leh Wi Tok (Let Us Talk), a documentary film about the power of radio as a ‘voice for the voiceless.’ Filming for Leh Wi Tok is underway.
We invite you to visit www.lehwitok.org to learn more about this exciting project. You will see short film clips from interviews conducted in the summer of 2009. You will meet the filmmakers and the people interviewed so far, and receive updates as filming and production continue in the United States and West Africa. And, you will receive news about the premiere screening of Leh Wi Tok (Fall 2010) and screenings in other locations around the country.
As the major underwriter, FWA is raising funds for filming, editing, production. We welcome your support (click on ‘support’ to go to donate page), and invite you join us in providing a unique opportunity for the people of West Africa to share their compelling story.
Thank you, and stay tuned through www.lehwitok.org.
